MYSTIC RIVER OYSTER FESTIVAL

Mystic Seaport invites you to the first ever Mystic River Oyster Festival on October 1.

This one-day event is a celebration of all things to do with the oyster and seeks to highlight the history, growing, and cuisine of the popular shellfish. The Museum will open its grounds to growers, restaurants, educational and advocacy organizations, and others with an interest in the cultivation, conservation, heritage, or cooking of oysters. Our interpretation staff is developing programming and demonstrations to complement the historic artifacts on display, which include the Thomas Oyster House, the 1898 oyster sloop Nellie, and harvesting tools. Live music and all of the usual Museum activities will insure this is a memorable day for the entire family.
