Danbury Museum Re-Opening

*The event has already taken place on this date: Wed, 06/30/2021
What a difference a month makes! We have exciting news regarding our re-opening schedule and we’re looking forward to seeing you all again soon. What’s the plan? We’re glad you asked! Beginning June 30, Elaine Lagarto’s delightful The Fair That John Built exhibit will be open to the public and FREE in Huntington Hall! No appointment needed, Huntington Hall’s exhibit space will be open Wednesday through Saturday, 12-4. We’ll have tours of our historic buildings and research spots available by appointment, also starting on June 30, with availability Wednesday through Saturday, from 12-4. We’re still fine tuning the details of the online appointment system, but if you are keen to book your tour or research appointment, you can call us at 203-743-5200.

Please help us keep this calendar up to date! If this activity is sold out, canceled, or otherwise needs alteration, email mindy@kidsoutandabout.com so we can update it immediately. If you have a question about the activity itself, please contact the organization administrator listed below.

Please note there will be no walk-in research or tours. All appointments will require 48 hrs notice. This timing will allow us to carefully have tours in our historic buildings as well as safely have researchers in the archive office and time to clean in between guests.

For the safety of our community, following city, state and museum organizational guidance, all staff, volunteers, and visitors to the Danbury Museum are required to wear a mask that covers the nose and mouth and practice social distancing while inside the building.

And that’s not all! Our summer read-along is up outside, featuring The Great Danbury Fair A-Z by Theresa Buzaid and we have a new outdoor walking tour of our historic buildings for visitors to enjoy 7 days a week.

While we won't be holding an indoor programs for the summer, look forward to announcements regarding BYOC (Bring Your Own Chair) outdoor events in July and August.

If your community group has been meeting at the Danbury Museum we are happy to facilitate an outdoor meeting--you bring the chairs, we’ll provide the space, and even masks if you need them!

We will continue to communicate any further impacts to the Danbury Museum as a result of  COVID-19. Our interest is to continue serving our community while maintaining the safety and health of our staff, volunteers, and public. We want, just as much as you do, a return to tours and programs inside our historic buildings. As we all work together to implement safety measures and get vaccinated, that seems a closer reality than ever!

In the meantime, as a reminder, the Danbury Museum has several social media platforms and has continued and will continue to supply a high volume of content over the next few months. If there are any changes to the museum schedule of reopening, they will be posted to social media and our museum website!
