Greater Bridgeport Youth Orchestras offers one of the finest opportunities for young musicians in Connecticut. The GBYO program is developmentally progressive, with four orchestras, a Wind Ensemble, and a Jazz Ensemble, giving young people the opportunity to play classical and jazz music at the highest level both individually and collectively. GBYO membership has grown to almost 300 student musicians in grades 5-12 from all over Connecticut. Rehearsals are held weekly in Fairfield, and at least three concerts per year are performed at the Klein Auditorium in Bridgeport.

Greater Bridgeport Youth Orchestras’ (GBYO) holistic approach to music education means we inspire and challenge students at every stage of their music development. The study and performance of great music in an ensemble setting can be a transformative experience for young musicians and the skills they learn as part of a GBYO ensemble—teamwork, perseverance and responsibility—carry over into all areas of their lives.
